German Shaker Kitchen on the Upper West Side
This kitchen sits in an open plan apartment on the Upper West Side. It is in full view of the living space, so it had to read as calmly from across the room as it does from the sink.
The cabinetry is German built with a cream shaker front. The door profile is traditional.
Everything behind is not. Shaker cabinets soften a room, and here they stop a modern apartment from feeling like a showroom.
Calacatta Gold quartz runs across the counters, up the wall behind the range, and down the end of the peninsula as a waterfall. The peninsula seats three and separates the kitchen from the living space without closing it off.
The last piece is the quietest. A coffee station sits on the far side of the run with its own counter, its own stretch of stone and a single oak shelf above it. It is outside the cooking zone, so someone can make coffee without standing in the cook's way. Designed and installed by Install.
